Seasonal Vaccinations

Flu Vaccination

Flu is a highly infectious viral infection. It comes on very quickly and can cause many symptoms including fever, aching body, exhaustion, sore throat and headache. Getting a flu jab is the single most effective step you can take to protect yourself, and others, from flu this winter. This is offered for free on the NHS to those who qualify, but we also offer a private Flu vaccination for anyone over 18yrs for £16.99.

COVID-19 Vaccination

NHS England funds this service and aims to vaccinate as many people as possible each year.
For those over 65, people with a medical condition or pregnant women, catching COVID can be more serious and that’s why they are offered a FREE NHS-funded COVID-19 vaccine.

Travel

Travel Vaccinations

As we travel around the world we are exposed to diseases that don't normally occur in the UK. These are diseases against which we have no natural immunity and against which we are not routinely immunised in the UK. Some of these illnesses may not only spoil your holiday, but they may also pose a serious risk to your health.
Here at Prestwich Travel Clinic, we can advise on which vaccinations are required or recommended for the areas you are travelling to.

Anti-malarial treatments

All of our travel vaccinations and malaria prevention tablets are available without private GP prescriptions and are often cheaper. Please pop in to ask us what's on offer.

Travel Essentials

We stock all of your essential travel products including sun cream, insect repellent, rehydration sachets and cream for bites and stings. Check out our full range in-store.

Chickenpox

Chickenpox is common and mostly affects children, but you can get it at any age. It usually gets better by itself after 1 to 2 weeks without needing to see a GP.
We can administer the Chickenpox vaccine at our Vaccination Clinic, click to book a consultation.

MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella)

The MMR vaccine is a safe and effective combined vaccine. It protects against 3 serious illnesses: Measles, Mumps and Rubella (german measles). These highly infectious conditions can easily spread between unvaccinated people. Getting vaccinated is important, as these conditions can also lead to serious problems including meningitis, hearing loss and problems during pregnancy.
We offer this vaccine at our Vaccination Clinic, click to book a consultation.

HPV

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the name of a very common group of viruses. They do not cause any problems in most people, but some types can cause genital warts or cancer.
HPV affects the skin. There are more than 100 different types.
The HPV vaccine protects against the types of HPV that cause most cases of genital warts and cervical cancer, as well as some other cancers. It does not protect against all types of HPV. Speak to one of the Prestwich Pharmacy team for more information.

Meningitis ACWY

Meningitis can be caused by several different infections, so several vaccinations offer some protection against it. Children should receive most of these as part of the NHS vaccination schedule. Speak to your GP if you're not sure whether you or your child's vaccinations are up to date. Book a telephone consultation with us to discuss receiving this vaccination privately.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a highly infectious virus spread through blood and bodily fluids and treatment depends on how long you have had the virus for. The best way to protect against hepatitis B is to get a vaccination and stay up-to-date with vaccines.
If you're a health worker, and regularly vaccinate, take blood or come into contact with body fluids, it is recommended that you are immunised against hepatitis B.
If suitable, we can prescribe a course of 3 vaccines that you'll receive over 6 months. Book a consultation today.

Pneumonia is inflammation of the tissue in one or both lungs and is usually caused by a bacterial infection. Pneumonia affects around 1 in 100 adults every year and can affect people of any age. In the very young and the elderly, pneumonia can be more serious and may need hospital treatment. You are at greater risk of pneumonia if you have asthma, diabetes, chronic heart disease, or smoke.
