BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING

We are here to help!

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE?
How would you know? Get screened!

Blood pressure is the strength with which your blood pushes on the sides of your arteries as it's pumped around your body.

High blood pressure (hypertension) can put a strain on your arteries and organs, which can increase your risk of developing serious problems such as heart attacks and strokes.

Low blood pressure (hypotension) isn't usually as serious, although it can cause dizziness and fainting in some people.

A blood pressure test is the only way to find out if your blood pressure is too high or too low, because most people won't have any obvious symptoms. Having a test is easy and could save your life.

People with high blood pressure that is not controlled with medication are at an increased risk of having a stroke, heart attack, heart failure, heart disease and kidney failure due to the extra strain on the body’s organs.

You can find more detailed general information at nhs.uk, where you can also check your heart age.

HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?

Get a blood pressure check

If you think you might be at risk of high blood pressure, or you simply haven’t had it checked in a while, you can get a blood pressure check at Prestwich Pharmacy. No need for an appointment, just ask a member of staff, have the check in one of our clinical consultation rooms and discuss the results with a pharmacist.

Discuss with a pharmacist

If you’re diagnosed with high or low blood pressure, then a pharmacist will be able to discuss with you if there are any lifestyle or diet changes that could help your blood pressure or overall heart risk.

Receive support tailored to your needs

If your doctor prescribes medication, then a pharmacist can help you be confident in using your medication safely and effectively and support you with understanding your heart health choices.

Around 1 in 4 adults in the UK have high blood pressure, but many don’t know it. It can increase your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Find out how to get checked, understand what your numbers mean and how to manage your risk.
