The combined oral contraceptive pill (often just called "the pill") contains artificial versions of female hormones oestrogen and progesterone, which are produced naturally in the ovaries. You can now request oral contraception at your pharmacy without a GP visit required. This service is for patients who want to start taking the pill and those who are already on a repeat prescription for it. Book an appointment at your pharmacy to skip the GP and the 8 am rush.

"Morning After Pill" (Emergency Hormonal Contraception)

The emergency hormonal contraceptives available at Prestwich Pharmacy are for women who’ve had unprotected sex within the last five days. Our pharmacist will advise if the morning-after pill is suitable for you after helping you understand all of your options. The sooner you take the morning-after pill after unprotected sex, the greater the chances of avoiding pregnancy. Book an appointment.
