Your health is a priority
3/4 women of reproductive age want to prevent a pregnancy with 45% of pregnancies being unplanned.

Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death for women.
84% of women said there had been instances in which they had not been listened to by healthcare professionals.
Menstruation & Menopause
It is possible to safely delay your period for several days should you wish to. We might be able to prescribe a medication called Norethisterone to delay your period.
Ask your pharmacist to go through the options with you in person or during a telephone consultation.
They can prescribe you the tablets without a GP appointment.
Around 50% of postmenopausal women experience vaginal atrophy. Vaginal atrophy involves a thinning, drying, and inflammation of the vaginal walls and tissues.
Also known as genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), vaginal atrophy is a condition that occurs due to a decrease in oestrogen levels, primarily during and after menopause. Oestrogen is a hormone that plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and function of the vaginal and urogenital tissues, so a decrease causes changes in our vaginal health. There are treatment options available, pop in and see us.
Incontinence
Bladder leaks? You are not alone.
About 50% of adult women will experience some degree of urinary incontinence at some point in their lives.
With the right treatment, you can often get your bladder leaks under control.
Sexual Health
Emergency contraception can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if the contraception you have used has failed – for example, a condom has split or you have missed a pill.
You need to take the emergency contraceptive pill within 3 days (Levonelle) or 5 days (ellaOne) of unprotected sex for it to be effective – the sooner you take it, the more effective it'll be. You can get this at your local pharmacy, no need for a GP appointment.
The combined oral contraceptive pill (often just called "the pill") contains artificial versions of female hormones oestrogen and progesterone, which are produced naturally in the ovaries.
You can now request oral contraception at your pharmacy without a GP visit required.
This service is for patients who want to start taking the pill and those who are already on a repeat prescription for it.
Book an appointment at Prestwich Pharmacy to skip the GP and the 8am rush.
Gynae Health
Thrush is a yeast infection caused by the Candida species of fungus, which usually lives harmlessly in the vagina and does not cause any symptoms, because its growth is kept under control by normal bacteria. But if the balance of bacteria changes – for example, when you're pregnant, on antibiotics, or stressed – the fungus can grow and cause uncomfortable symptoms.
You can buy antifungal medicine from Prestwich Pharmacy if you've had thrush diagnosed in the past and you know the symptoms.
You should not use antifungal medicine more than twice in 6 months without speaking to a pharmacist or doctor.
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) affect your urinary tract, including your bladder ( cystitis ), urethra ( urethritis ) or kidneys ( kidney infection ). UTIs may be treated with antibiotics, but they're not always needed.
We offer a UTI management service at Prestwich Pharmacy.
To help diagnose and treat your symptoms quickly, pop in and ask or book a telephone consultation first.
